SM in Seoul!

SM in Seoul!

If you know anything about K-pop, there is no doubt that you have heard of SM Entertainment. SM Entertainment is one of the biggest and most reputable K-pop companies in South Korea, and they represent artists such as Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT and many more! Without a doubt, with artists as talented as these, SM Entertainment has garnered a worldwide fan base. With such a large following, many fans visit South Korea hoping to see glimpses of their favorite idols.

While it may be a bit hard to just bump into your favorite K-pop idol, SM has created a few hot spots for fans to visit just to feel a little closer to their ultimate biases.

  • SM Coex Artium

SM Coex Artium is a 100% must-go for K-pop fans, let alone fans of SM artists. Essentially, SM Coex Artium is a multi-level building to completely immerse yourself into the world of K-pop at SM. Here, fans are able to watch hologram concerts, tour recording studios or practice rooms, see the idols’ concert outfits at the museum, purchase merchandise and little keepsakes, and enjoy a drink and some Red Velvet cake at the cafe. Almost every corner you turn has a signed item waiting for you to see.

At the cafe, all the cakes and drinks are named after SM artists, and if you buy a drink, you will be offered the option to have your drink be put into a little bottle with your favorite SM artist on it, which serves as a super cute and practical memento. There is a lot to see and do at SM Coex Artium, and really is an experience like no other!

  • SM Communication Center

This is the home of the cafe, restaurant, and SUM market. This place is perfect if you’re feeling a little peckish but you still haven’t gotten enough of K-pop in Seoul. Like the cafe at SM Coex Artium, the one here offers a similar variety of cakes and drinks, and is definitely the place to be if you're looking for a place to sit and relax after all the walking that is involved in traveling.

If all the walking has really tired you out and you’re absolutely starving, the restaurant offers a vast array of options to satisfy your hunger amongst the pretty pink interior of the restaurant. After a good feed at the cafe or restaurant, visitors have the option to browse around the SUM market, which is home to merchandise and SM’s own line of snacks, which are again named after SM’s K-pop groups.

SM’s artists also occasionally visit the SM Communication Center for reality show filmings or live streams.

  • SM Entertainment HQ

SM HQ is located in Cheongdam, along with a plethora of other K-pop Entertainment HQs. While it is quite an iconic building, visitors are only allowed to observe from the outside so it may not be the most exciting place, but if you are in the area and you’re an avid fan of some SM artists, it may be worth a visit just to see in person.

With entertainers as talented as the ones at SM, it is no wonder why SM is one of the top K-pop companies, and why they have garnered so much global attention! These SM hot spots scattered around Seoul definitely make an SM fan’s South Korea trip a whole lot more interesting!
