Trying to figure out what to do with leftovers can be a hassle. Should you throw them out? Keep them for a little longer just in case you’re in the mood for them later? The best option is to figure out ways to reuse those leftovers and prepare a brand new different meal! Leftovers from Korean food can offer so much more than you think!

Kimchi Bokkeum-bap – Kimchi Fried Rice

Kimchi fried rice is a great way to use up any leftover kimchi and rice from previous meals. Add in different toppings such as mixed veggies, various meats and top it off with an egg. This quick and easy meal gives a refreshing taste to the leftovers that once were.

Kimchi-Jjigae – Spicy Kimchi Stew

Kimchi-jjigae is another great way to use some slightly-aged kimchi. The stew can be enjoyed with meats, tofu and veggies. This dish serves as a staple food in a Korean household due to its delicious taste. A slightly spicy and tangy food that brings warmth and comfort as you eat it!

 Budae-Jjigae – Army Base Stew

Army base stew was a dish created after the Korean War, taking any ingredients one might have laying around and combining them in a umami- rich broth. A great way to use up any leftovers you might have, budae-jjigae combines any meats, veggies, kimchi and many more ingredients that you don’t want to throw out just yet. Add in ramen and you have a brand new dish that will leave you wanting more!

Bibimbap

Another great way to use up any day old rice would be bibimbap. The name stands for “mixed up rice,” and the dish uses different ingredients such as meats, sauteed vegetables, and depending on your preference, a raw or fried egg served in a bowl of rice. Being considered a well-known and beloved dish it is a great comfort food that can be cooked up in minutes.

Kimchi Buchimgae – Kimchi Pancake

Kimchi buchimgae uses any kimchi that isn’t necessarily bad but is not exactly the freshest. Consisting of kimchi, wheat flour, and seasonings of your choice, this snack can be  cooked up in minutes. This recipe makes a savory pancake that packs a punch of flavor!
