K-Pop Idol Skincare Routine

K-Pop Idol Skincare Routine

Other than being known for amazing talent, flawless visuals, unmissable stage presence, and stunning outfits, K-pop idols are also widely-known for their perfect skin. But whenever idols are asked about their skincare routine, they often reply with funny and sarcastic comments or simply reply with commonly-known tips such as drinking water and cleanliness. However, thanks to Kyla from Pristin, the phenomenon of K-pop idol glass skin is no longer such a mystery, and can be achieved by people like you and me!

Before we start, it is important to note that everyone’s skin is different so they may not work for you and your specific skin type. Kyla has sensitive and dry skin, but some products that she uses can also be used for other skin types depending on the concern it targets. She also attributes her skin’s current state mostly to Accutane.

This is how you can get one step closer to K-pop idol glass skin without breaking the bank:

  • The Face Shop - Rice Water Bright Cleansing Cream

The Face Shop's Rice Water Bright Cleansing Cream is for removing and melting off makeup. The cleanser hydrates while removing the dust and pollution that ends up being collected on your skin during your day to day. Removing makeup properly with a cleanser that doesn’t strip your skin too much is super important, especially for oily skin types.

  • The Face Shop - Rice Water Bright Foaming Cleanser

This cleanser is more for everyday use, so just your normal morning and night cleanser before you moisturize. Double cleansing has been a Korean skincare trend for a while, and basically consists of cleansing your face once with an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and then once with a water-based cleanser to clean the face and any excess makeup. Finding a cleanser that is right for your skin is super important!

  • Dr.G - Crystal Deep Peeling

Dr.G's Crystal Deep Peeling is an exfoliant so it shouldn’t be used every day; around once a week should be enough. This is a cream exfoliator that has been super popular in the Korean skincare routine. Peeling creams and gels are put onto the face and massaged with the fingers until all the dead skin and impurities are removed to leave your skin feeling clean and smooth. This product is suitable for most skin types.

  • Cosrx - AHA/BHA Toner

This toner comes from the brand Cosrx, which is widely known as a brand that targets more acne-prone skin types. The AHA/BHA toner is a mild toner that lightly exfoliates the skin, and is a cult favorite. As it is AHA/BHA, it is amazing for acne-prone skin and can even fade away acne scarring.

  • Missha - Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence

Essence is used after cleansing and toning, and the Time Revolution Essence in particular aims to hydrate, brighten and firm.

  • Innisfree - Green Tea Balancing Lotion EX

Another cult favorite within Korean beauty, this is a light-weight antioxidant lotion aiming to hydrate the skin and balance moisture. Green tea products are great for all skin types, especially skin that is in need of deep hydration. Kyla uses this as a moisturizer during the day since it is a lightweight lotion, and doesn’t leave skin feeling too oily or sticky.

  • TONYMOLY - Green Tea Intense Cream

Once again, another green tea item. This is basically the night version of the previous green tea moisturizer. As it is more concentrated and thick, it’s best for use at night so that it has enough time to fully absorb and replenish your skin overnight. More heavy creams may make your skin feel a bit more sticky and oily so they’re best for nighttime or for super dry skin types.

  • Cosrx - Aloe Soothing Sunscreen

Sunscreen is arguably the most important step of skincare and is what will keep your face protected and bright. If you don’t wear sunscreen, especially after using acid products or exfoliating products, you’re doing more harm than good to your skin. Kyla wears this every day, even on cloudy days, which is how sunscreen should be worn. The Cosrx is a super lightweight sunscreen and is not oily on the skin at all, even for oily skin types. With its SPF50 and aloe mixed in, this sunscreen will not only protect your skin but it will also moisturize.

It is important to remember that your skin concerns won’t be resolved overnight, but a consistent skincare routine that is right for you can definitely bring you a step closer to flawless K-pop idol glass skin.
