Explore 'reality in BLACK' with MAMAMOO

Out with their newest full-length album, reality in BLACK, MAMAMOO explores different realities. The teasers each posed the question, “What if MAMAMOO wasn’t MAMAMOO?”

“HIP,” their latest single, is an energetic and bold song with electronic beats and a fast-paced tempo. The transitions from raps to the vocals are seamless. The song feels like a chase scene in an action movie. It’s fast and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

In the music video, the members take on different personas ranging from rockstar Solar, choreographer Moonbyul, activist Wheein, and President Hwasa. Essentially, the song is directed at their haters but there’s also a strong message that you can dress anyway you want to. People will say hurtful things but you are hip while others are struggling to be trendy.

Along with “HIP,” they did a stage for their other song, “Destiny.” Hwasa, Solar, Moonbyul, and Wheein don’t hold back in this amazing performance. Starting off with a wild west sound that gradually rises into a beat reminiscent of their previous single “Starry Night,” it’s a song that makes you feel like you can do anything.

The tracklist dropped earlier in November and it featured eleven tracks. Fans were excited since this would be their newest concept since their Four Seasons projected concluded.

Not to spoil too much but this album ranges from soulful tracks like "4X4ever" (the instrumentals conveying nostalgia and resilience) to somber ballads like "Ten Nights" and "Hello Mama," and inspiring lighthearted songs like "Better" and "Zzzz." They end it with "I’m Your Fan," a colorful pop track that ends with a ringing echo.
