Eggs are considered a basic food in any household throughout the world. Ranging from being eaten in a roll, on some bread or paired with rice, here are some EGGciting ways they are served throughout South Korea!

Gyeran-mari (계란말이) - Egg Roll

Egg rolls are a very popular side dish or snack. Gyeran-mari is a rolled egg omelette, sometimes enjoyed simply on its own or mixed with ingredients such as carrots, zucchini, ham and canned tuna, to name a few!

Gyeran-ppang (계란빵) - Egg Bread

Egg bread is one amongst many Korean street foods. Being quite popular in the winter, it consists of a warm corn muffin and an egg. A delightful combination of sweet and savory that will please anyone's taste buds!

Gyeran-jangjorim (계란장조림) - Eggs in Soy Broth

Korean braised eggs are known for being a quick and easy, yet delicious, side dish! A hard boiled egg marinated in soy sauce has anyone’s mouth watering because of its sweet, salty, and highly addictive taste!

Gyeran-jjim (계란찜) - Steamed Egg

Steamed eggs are another popular side dish, and somewhat similar to an egg soufflé, but without any dairy products and is steamed in a hot stone bowl instead of baked. This dish compliments any main course for being a simple twist on a basic egg!

Kimchi Bokkeum-bap (김치 볶음밥) - Kimchi Fried Rice

Kimchi fried rice is a perfect solution for any leftover kimchi and rice dishes one might have! Consisting of kimchi and fried rice, this classic dish can be taken to a whole new level by simply adding an egg. A quick and delicious meal to satisfy anyone’s cravings!

Bibimbap (비빔밥) - Rice with Mixed Vegetables

A typical Korean dish, the term “bibim” means mixing various ingredients while “bap” refers to rice. Elevate bibimbap by adding an egg, and depending on what your up for, it could either be raw or cooked. This dish is known for being an easy way of using up leftovers while making for a delicious dish!
