It's Not All About Love: K-Dramas to Watch with Friends on Valentine's Day

Oh Valentine's Day, the one day of the year when we truly see love everywhere. If you’re alone during Valentine’s Day, it's normal to feel a bit sad; however, it’s never a bad idea to have a couple of friends over for a small Valentine's Day get together! Watching a K-drama or webseries with your friends is the perfect activity, and that’s why we’ve gathered 5 shows  that will make the day really fun:

  • A-TEEN

A-TEEN follows the lives of six eighteen-year-olds (A-Teen, get it?) in their ups and downs, first loves and first heartbreaks as they discover what it truly means to be an adult. It has two seasons with each episode around 9-16 minutes long, and OSTs by SEVENTEEN. There are even cameos of NCT Dream's Jaemin and Jeno; and Stray Kids' Hyujin and I.N. You can stream both seasons on YouTube!

  • Love Alarm

Love Alarm, based off the webtoon of the same name, tells us the story of what it would be like if an app lets you confess your feelings to someone who's within your ten-mile radius. Here's the twist: they must have the app in order for you to confess. It has one season of eight episodes, each with a forty-minute running time, and has been renewed for season two. Love Alarm is available to stream on Netflix, and we're sure you’re bound to see some familiar faces, such as Jung Ga-Ram from When The Camellia Blooms and Kim So-Hyun from Goblin!

  • Goblin

Spoiler alert: Grab your tissues for this one. Goblin is one of the most beloved K-dramas. It follows the story of Kim Shin (played by Train to Busan's Gong Yoo), a general who was cursed to live for eternity with a sword in his chest that only his wife can remove. Tangled in various situations, Goblin is set to make you feel a lot of emotions in a single episode. It has only one season of sixteen episodes, each about an hour long, and a star-studded OST with songs from EXO’s Chanyeol ft. Punch, Crush, Heize, Sam Kim and more. You can stream Goblin for free in the Viki app!

  • While You Were Sleeping

If you could change your fate, would you? What if every time you saved someone, you gained the ability to see their future? While You Were Sleeping answers those questions. It follows the story of a news anchor, a prosecutor, and a police officer who all gain similar abilities, but they must try to find out why and what they can do to stop life-threatening situations. While You Were Sleeping has one season of sixteen hour-long episodes, and stars Lee Jong-Suk (Romance is a Bonus Book), Suzy (Vagabond), and Jung Hae-in (One Spring Night). It is available to stream on Hulu and in the Viki App!

  • Abyss

What would you do if you suddenly died and came back in a completely new body? Abyss is a different type of K-drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It tells us the story of Cha Min, a young, wealthy man who died by accident and was brought back to life with a device called Abyss. It has one season of sixteen episodes, and the familiar faces of Park Bo-Young (Strong Woman Do Bong Soon) and Ahn Hyo-Seop (Dr. Romantic 2). It is available to stream on Netflix!

So many K-dramas and so little time to watch! Good thing that Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday this year. Grab your favorite face masks, snacks, and your favorite Daebak Box item; and get to watch some of these choices with your friends!
