I think I know what I'm doing on Saturday in Los Angeles.ย ๐
Chef Chris Oh at
Hanjip, a Korean BBQ restaurant in Culver City, and
Coolhaus, an L.A.-based dessert food truck and shop, have teamed up to create some of the most wacky and delicious-sounding ice cream sandwiches ever. Chef Oh (who also started
Seoul Sausage and heads the kitchen at Koreatown'sย
Escala) came up with three flavors:
Korean Chili Fries,
Hawaiian Pizza, and
Korean Cookies & Cream.

Take a bite of the Korean Chili Fries, which includes red bean ice cream with shoestring fries between snack-food chip cookies (made of butterscotch, pretzels, and potato chips). The Hawaiian Pizza is made of pineapple ice cream (!!!ย ๐) with pieces of Spam with white chocolate macadamia nut cookies completing the sandwich. The Korean Cookies & Cream features the classic Choco Pie -- it's made with Tahitian vanilla ice cream with Choco Pie bits between chocolate covered Whoopee Pie cookies. How decadent! The sandwiches are already available at Hanjip, but visitors who swing by this
Saturday, June 11 from
6 to 8 p.m. will be able to receive vouchers for free sandwiches. The Coolhaus truck will be parked outside to serve you! Seriously though, pineapple ice cream and Spam is a MUST-TRY! ~~
