If you’re both a foodie and a makeup enthusiast, South Korean makeup brands and food brand collaborations are definitely worth taking a look into. With its low prices and effective formulas, K-beauty has gained popularity internationally for skincare and makeup, while Korean food and snack brands have been a long-existing market. The culmination of the food and K-beauty has created a frenzy, and here are two collaborations to help you with your foodie and K-Beauty journey!
Samyang Ramen x TonyMoly
In case you have been living under a rock, Samyang is the creator of the Buldak Spicy Chicken Ramen that swept the nation with the Fire Noodle Challenge. This fiery Samyang x TonyMoly Hot Edition makeup collaboration consists of five products including a cushion, lip tint, lip care stick, blusher, and makeup puffs; but don’t worry, these won’t burn the way the real instant noodles do!
The Hot Edition Coverdak Cushion is a cushion-compact foundation that comes in two shades: Nuclear Vanilla and Nuclear Beige. The cushion comes in an adorable ramen cup that is almost identical to the real Buldak Spicy Chicken Ramen, and inside you will find the cushion and a "sauce packet," which is a foundation refill.
The Hot Edition Lip Sauce Tint consists of two colours: Chicken Red and Cheese Chicken, with Chicken Red being a deeper red while Cheese Chicken is a little lighter. Fortunately, these lip tints won’t burn your lips or smell of chicken and cheese, but they will leave your lips with a lovely, fiery tinge—almost like how your lips look after eating the 2x Spicy Noodles.
If a lip tint or makeup, in general, isn’t your cup of tea, the Hot Edition Lip Care Stick is essentially just a lip balm. This will keep your lip moisturized, and is perfect for a natural, no-makeup day.
The Hot Edition Noodle Blusher, again, comes in two shades: Deep Red, inspired by the original flavour; and Carbolighter, inspired by the carbonara flavour. Deep Red, essentially is exactly as the name suggests, and Carbolighter is a light pink dusting of blush just to give you a natural glow.
Lastly, while the Hot Edition Makeup Puffs isn’t quite makeup, they are an adorable little addition to the series, and is a must-buy for avid fans to complete the collection!
KitKat x Etude House
This collaboration saw the creation of two KitKat-inspired eyeshadow palettes, featuring “Original” and “Strawberry Tiramisu.”
Original, with the iconic red KitKat packaging that we all know and love includes six warm, neutral shades with a range of earthy, brown tones to pick and choose from.
The Strawberry Tiramisu palette, with its soft pink packaging, has comparatively cool-toned shades and more glittery and peachy tones.
These KitKat palettes even come with a little KitKat pouch! No matter which palette you get, both have an amazing colour story that allows you to create anything from a subtle, everyday look to a glam, date-night look. “Have a break, wear this KitKat.”
Within the past year, food and K-beauty brand collaborations have become increasingly popular. With such collabs as KitKat x Etude House and Samyang x TonyMoly, we only wish there were more! With that being said, what’s your favourite food x K-beauty collaboration?
