A Whole New World of K-Pop and Disney!

A Whole New World of K-Pop and Disney!

Most of us have grown up with Disney as a source of loveable characters, heartwarming stories, and in many of them catchy songs!  Here are several covers by K-pop idols and groups of those unforgettable Disney songs that bring back our childhoods!

Nancy (Momoland) - Part Of Your World

The group Momoland was formed by a contest called Finding Momoland (2016) which included trainees under Duble Kick Entertainment. One of the final lineup members was Nancy, who did a cover of “Part Of Your World” (The Little Mermaid) as one of her performances. Only sixteen-years-old at the time, her light airy voice fits the Disney Princess vibe perfectly and encompasses the childhood innocence of Ariel.

Siyeon (Dreamcatcher) - Speechless

Released in 2019, the live-action Aladdin movie featured a new addition to the original songs. Titled “Speechless,” it’s the only song from Jasmine’s point-of-view and is about her own strength to fight against those who she is supposed to be. Siyeon is known for her powerful vocals in Dreamcatcher’s more rock-inclined tracks, and she uses those beautifully to portray the strength and lower tones of the song.

Sanha (ASTRO) and Suyeon (Weki Meki) - A Whole New World

When you think of Disney songs, “A Whole New World” from Aladdin might be the first song that comes to mind! In 2019, Sanha and Suyeon surprised everyone with their stage of the iconic song from Aladdin. Dressed in soft blues, they sat on a stage with filled with clouds; complete with a magic carpet. No one expected this Fantagio duet, but they WOWed many fans with their English pronunciation and vocal abilities.

N.Flying - Into the Unknown

The long-awaited sequel to Frozen hit theaters last year, and many different idols and groups covered various songs from it. But who would be more perfect to cover the rock version than a K-pop band? Starring Hweseung’s powerful vocals and amazing range, N.Flying does an unforgettable cover of Panic! at the Disco’s version of “Into the Unknown.” Hweseung hits the high notes flawlessly, and as always, the whole band brings so much energy to their music that draws you in and makes you want to sing along!

Solar (MAMAMOO) - Medley

Already MAMAMOO are known for their powerful vocals and harmonies as well as larger-than-life personalities. In this special stage, Solar worked hard to bring her own flair. She includes “Part Of Your World” from The Little Mermaid, “Reflection” from Mulan, and “Let It Go” from Frozen. Her lower voice fits the latter two songs perfectly and she sings full of emotion. She captures the hearts of the audience who cheered loudly for her at the end with all her hard work. Solar even spent a lot of time preparing for the performance, even going as far as to photoshop her face onto Ariel to put on cans for fans!

Suhyun (AKMU) - Medley

Perhaps the idol who has covered the most Disney songs, Suhyun has done several medleys at concerts. For this one in particular, she covers songs from Frozen, Tangled, and The Little Mermaid. Known for her amazing vocals, she has an effortless way of singing that commands our attention. She brings her own flavor to the songs, taking a jazzy take on “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” (Frozen) that still captures the lightheartedness and youth. Suhyun really knows how to command the stage and her playfulness guarantees all eyes are on her!

There are many more covers of songs that idols have done, what are some of your favorites?
