Sometimes, you find yourself waking up too late to eat breakfast, but too early to eat lunch, the best decision to make is to grab some brunch! However, brunch cafés and restaurants appear to be few and far between in certain locations. So, when you do discover a place that serves that beautiful breakfast and lunch blend, you want the atmosphere and food to be good. Travelling to South Korea and in need of brunch and coffee, Seoul has plenty of cafés to chill at. However, you can’t find a place as interesting as Summer Lane Café!
Summer Lane primarily serves as a café; however, there is a brunch menu available throughout the day! What is distinct about this particular café is that the menu is full of “western,” Australian cuisine, even though it is just south of South Korea. This menu is full of classic brunch cuisines and baked goods. Another great aspect of Summer Lane Café is its location in Itaewon. A large spot to visit for tourist and natives alike, Summer Lane provides a unique flavor for foreigners.
Prices are about average for a brunch, between 12,000 won to 15,000 won, but meals like this are uncommon, not just in Seoul, but other countries as well. The atmosphere of minimalistic décor and greenery on the surrounding shelves and walls also brings in a comforting vibe.
The salmon waffle eggs benedict with poached eggs, salmon, avocado, and waffle topped with hollandaise sauce creates a flavor explosion in your mouth that will leave you wanting more. If you’re looking for something to fill your sweet tooth, try the Pavlova, a traditional Australian and New Zealand sweet cake topped with meringue, passion fruit and raspberry. Thirsty or need something to cleanse your palate between meals? Try an Aussie Ice, an iced latte with vanilla ice cream, or go for some classic tea like the Melbourne breakfast, a special-tea at Summer Lane Café.
MKH is a blog and YouTube channel about an intercultural family living in South Korea. In this video, Nichola, who’s Australian, visits Summer Lane with her friend and son. This video is great for getting a better look at the food and drinks that are available! Check out more of their videos on their channel.
Summer Lane Café will hit the spot for many of your needs. Even if you’re not in the mood for a full meal, this cafe offers small bakery goods, coffees, and teas available for the everyday visitors. So, why not stop by for a quick brunch with an Australian flare?
